PHYSICAL EDUCATION classes (Grades 6-8) will focus on the following standards -
The Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment is administered to all students in grades 4, 6, 8,and 10 covering about seven weeks in the fall. Here at Ponus, we also test grade 7 to keep the students in practice. The four tests are, sit and reach (flexibility), curl-ups (abdominal strength), push-ups (upper body strength), and the mile or PACER (cardiovascular endurance)

- Demonstrate competency in motor skills needed to perform a variety of activities
- Demonstrate understanding of movement concepts as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities
- Participate regularly in physical activity
- Achieve and maintain a health enhancing level of physical fitness
- Exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings
- Value physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self expression and social interaction
